Powell headjoints are offered in three different styles. The price of each Powell flute includes the headjoint style of the player’s choice. Powell headjoints are also available for separate purchase.
Philharmonic: The most popular of Powell’s headjoint styles, the Philharmonic is capable of broad dynamic ranges and has a deep rich tone with extraordinary carrying power and focus.
Soloist: This headjoint style was introduced in 2005 to rave reviews. It is open
and free in the top octave, rich and deep in the middle and bottom octaves, and has great projection and flexibility.
Venti: This is Powell’s newest headjoint style, designed to give the performer variations of flexibility, dynamics, power and sound. It allows for depth of sound through all three octaves, even pitch and dynamic range, as well as a sound that is powerful without being wild or breaking up.
